Get a Total Body Workout Without a Gym

Whether you're on vacation, or you've had a long grueling day at the office, there are times when you just can't seem to make it to the gym. But just because you can't get to the gym to grab your favorite treadmill or Advanced Core Training Seminar Review weigh machine doesn't mean you can't workout. There are plenty of exercises you can do at home, in your office, or in your hotel room without all the bells and whistles of the machines.

You don't need a weight bench or dumb bells to get your arms looking feeling strong and looking toned. You can do arm workouts by simply lifting your body weight. Start out by doing push-ups. Doing 3 sets of 5 to 10 push-ups is good for beginners, while 3 sets of 20 or more are good for those with more experience. Once you've finished your push-ups, it's time to work those triceps. Find a desk or table and stand in front of it with your rear end touching the edge. Places your palms flat on the surface behind you, and keeping your feet together, lower yourself 90 degrees then push back up. Repeat this for 3 sets of 10 or more if you're feeling strong.

Forget the treadmill, forget the elliptical. You can get your leg workout at home in just a few easy steps. First, get your heart rate up with a little bicycle-style exercise. Lay flat you your back with your legs in a table top position. Tuck your hands behind your head and start moving your legs as if you were pedaling a bike. Do 3 sets at 2 minutes each. Once you're done, it's time to move on to leg lifts. Roll onto your side and place your legs parallel to each other. Flex your leg and lift it about 40 degrees off the ground, then lower.

Don't let it drop down on the resting leg! Repeat this for 3 sets of 25 then roll over to do the other leg. If you're still feeling strong, it's time for squats. Stand up straight and place your feet hip length apart. Put your arms straight in front of you for balance, and slowly lower your body into a squatting position. Remember to keep you back as straight as possible. Repeat by doing 3 sets of 10.


What's a good workout without the cardio? There are plenty of ways to squeeze it in without setting foot on a treadmill or stair master. First, get moving with some jumping jacks. These were very popular back in grade school gym class, and with good reason. Jumping Jacks are a quick and easy way to get your heart rate up and the blood pumping. Do 3 sets of 50 to really feel the burn. Next, it's time to jump rope, but without the rope.
